Acorn TV's newest cozy mystery is set to take us to a brand new location for the streaming service: New England. Yes, the network that's known for its charming tales of solving crime in English villages is moving house to America with its latest effort, the forthcoming six-part series You're Killing Me.

But that's not the only twist on the streamer's established formula to be found in this show: Its stars aren't even British! But maybe that doesn't matter so much when your lead is Brooke Shields – the famous model and actress who's starred in everything from The Blue Lagoon to When Calls the Heart.

However, while the accents may be different, the quirky beats of the show's larger story will feel intensely familiar to fans who've spent any time watching this genre of crime drama. The series follows Allie (Shields), a popular mystery author who teams up with a podcaster and aspiring writer (Amalia Williamson) to investigate the mysterious death of a friend. Former The Flash star Tom Cavanagh plays Jack, the new lead detective on the local police department, a former city dweller who is himself trying to adjust to the oddities of life in a small town.

Will the show's two seemingly opposite oddball investigators become friends? Will Jack and Allie hit it off in a bantery, but decidedly non-platonic way? Will there be cases of the week alongside the show's larger mystery? If the past is prologue, it seems likely that the answer to all those questions will inevitably be a resounding yes — and we'll all enjoy every bit of it along the way.

Here's the series' synopsis.

Set in a quaint New England town, the mystery follows bestselling novelist, Allie, who forms an unlikely alliance with an aspiring writer and podcaster Andi, to find the killer of a close friend. Cavanagh stars as Jack, the new lead detective of the local Police Department and former city slicker who is trying to acclimate to the quirks of small-town life.

The six-part series is created by Robin Bernheim Burger (Mother of the Bride), with James Genn (The Good Doctor), Scott Smith (The Magicians), and Paul Fox (Schitt's Creek) each directing a pair of episodes. Bernheim, Shields, and Genn are all executive producers, alongside Michael Volpe for Topsail and Christina Jennings and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury.

You're Killing Me will premiere on Monday, May 18, 2026, on Acorn TV, with new episodes to follow weekly through mid-June.
