The 'All Creatures Great & Small' Season 2 Trailer Is Adorable
The All Creatures Great and Small remake was 2021's first real hit. Snuggling down in the Yorkshire Dales to save a few cows turned out to be just what the doctor ordered last winter. But for those concerned that there might be a lack of small-time dramas starring Nicholas Ralph as James Herriot on our screens this year, worry not. Season 2 was greenlit before the series even premiered in the U.S. And despite the U.K. going in and out of lockdown over the past year, the new season will debut right on time on PBS this winter. Even better, the first trailer promises more farm animals than ever for Farnon's Veterinary Practice in Darrowby to look after.
But even though All Creatures is PBS' version of slow TV, that doesn't mean there won't be drama this season. James will again find himself torn between his family back in Scotland and his love of his new Yorkshire home after a trip home over the Easter holiday. Tristan (Callum Woodhouse) may have gotten through his exams ("passed" but not really), but that doesn't mean Sigfried (Samuel West) respects him or has less of an attitude in general about everything. Mrs. Hall (Anna Madeley) will still have to keep the peace. And of course, there's Helen (Rachel Shenton) leaving Hugh (Matthew Lewis) at the altar at the end of the Christmas special, which would keep tongues wagging in any town for years.
All that and a brand new Mrs. Pumphrey in Patricia Hodge for fans to get used to, though at least Tricki Woo is still his fluffy little self. Though the series will add sheep, chickens, and at least one pig to the laundry list of animals to care for, there will still be plenty of cows to rescue too.
