'Am I Being Unreasonable?' Sets a Sensible Season 2 Premiere Date
The BBC and the press have bemoaned the lack of successful comedies from the U.K.'s public production studios in the past few years. Most of these have focused on the "easily offended" crowd and other nonsense as if one needs to be offensive to be funny. One of the main culprits is actually because most British comedies aren't really to American tastes, and the BBC funding crisis has necessitated co-producers to get made. (Compare the American The Office remake starting with Season 2 to the original, and you'll see what I mean.) In fact, the state of the actual British comedy is fine, as anyone tuning into Am I Being Unreasonable? on Hulu will find out.
The series is the brainchild of U.K. household name Daisy May Cooper, who became a TV sensation with This Country during the pandemic lockdowns. The first season arrived on Hulu in 2023 with little marketing behind it and almost simultaneously with HBO's Rain Dogs, just another random binge title in a sea of content flowing across Hulu from multiple competing sources.
But a lot has changed in two years. Dinsey+ is airing Bluey and Doctor Who, and Hulu (now a tile under Disney+ in many households) is the place for adults to find more prestige-esque fare. Moreover, Hulu now has a nice constant stream of British programming, making Am I Being Unreasonable? less of yet another throwaway title and something that fits in with a streaming service that includes A Thousand Blows, Black Ops, Big Boys, Obituary, Say Nothing, Such Brave Girls, and Rivals.
