BritBox To Stream 'Lost Boys & Fairies' in 2025

Lost Boys & Fairies was one of the BBC's more anticipated family dramas for 2024, and it did not disappoint when it aired its three-episode run in June. The LGBTQ+ adoption drama stars Sion Daniel Young (Slow Horses) and Fra Fee (Les Misérables) as Welsh couple Gabriel and Andy, ready to take their eight-year relationship to the next level by starting a family. However, their adoption journey turns out to be nothing like either of them expected, as their hopes for a girl turn into falling in love with a little boy who it turns out they need in their lives as much as he needs them as parental figures.

The series received wide acclaim from the British press when it initially debuted at the 2024 Berlin International Film Festival and took home the Official Competition Award for 2024 at Germany's Seriencamp and the Best European Fiction Award 2024 at France's Festival De La Fiction. Now, it has sold worldwide, with TV network ARTE planning to air it in France and Germany, Stan streaming it in Australia, and BritBox, which will stream it in the U.S. and Canadian markets in 2025. (The miniseries already played SeriesFest 2024 in Denver and will come to October's OutFest 2024 in Orlando.)

A three-episode standalone, it is the inaugural TV series from production outfit Duck Soup Films and one of the first significant TV series from Welsh playwright Dafydd James, who is best known in the U.K. for his creation Sue Timms, from the stage musicals My Name is Sue and the follow-up Songs Across the Sueniverse.
