'The Brutalist's Final Trailer Reveals a Timely Tale

The Golden Globe nominations for the calendar year 2024 are out, and several upcoming arrivals, including The Brutalist, have already received multiple nominations. The film arrives in the U.S. in time for Christmas Week. However, it has already garnered stellar reviews from its Venice International Film Festival debut, taking home the prestigious Silver Lion (the festival's equivalent of Best Director) and Best Film at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. The Globes have nominated it in seven categories, all but one of which are part of the "Top Line" nominations: Best Motion Picture (Drama), Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Original Score. On the heels of the news, A24 has released the film's final trailer, which is the first time many will learn the film's plot.

The film stars American actor Adrian Brody (The Pianist) as László Tóth, a Hungarian-Jewish architect and Holocaust survivor who emigrates to America, and Australian actor Guy Pearce (A Spy Among Friends) as Harrison Lee Van Buren, a wealthy industrialist who becomes László's most important client. But just about everyone else in the cast is British, including Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), who plays Erzsébet Tóth, László's wife; Raffey Cassidy (Mr. Selfridge), as Zsófia, László's mute, orphaned teenage niece; and Joe Alwyn (Conversations with Friends), as Harry Lee Van Buren, Harrison's entitled son.
