The 'Call The Midwife' Season 11 Teaser Brings The Spring

After a decade on the air, Call The Midwife is back to try and go for another decade. For fans of the series, the March arrival of their favorite series is equivalent to a double dose of birthing goodness, and the delay in getting Season 10 on the air in the U.K. in 2021 meant PBS didn't air it until fall. But anytime is a good time for babies, and with the series reaching the late 1960s and the fabled year of the Summer of Love, there may be a more significant baby boom than usual. At least our midwives will be ready if the teaser is correct.

As the show round into its second decade, it's now 1967, and Nonnatus House has come a long way since the days of Season 1's 1957 setting and Jenny Lee (Jessica Raine)'s arrival. Sister Julienne and Sister Monica Joan are still in residence, and Sister Bernadette is still here, even if she's Mrs. Shelagh Turner now. But though the problems of yesteryear with poverty and untreated health problems remain the same, new issues are also popping up, from the continuation of the Fleming family's storyline stemming from Derek's exposure to radiation to squatters of hippies turning up in odd places.

But nothing can suppress the joy of Nonnatus House. The year 1967 celebrated the order's centenary of work in Poplar, and there will be an episode dedicated to that anniversary. This season will also see the midwives and nuns enjoy Eurovision. (Spoiler Alert: Like the World Cup episode last year, the show is covering it because this was the first year the U.K. won.) And there will be comings and goings in the cast because life goes on, but Nonnatus House is eternal. Or is it? Fans who already know the answer, please leave the spoilers at the door; Americans haven't watched yet.
