'Death in Paradise' Season 15 Sets BritBox Premiere Date
'Death in Paradise' sets a return date for Season 15 on BritBox as the entire Paradiseverse shifts to later in the calendar year.
One of the underappreciated aspects of the streaming revolution is that it opened up myriad options for where a series can air and stream in the U.S. However, just because there are more options does not mean any show can air on any platform and receive the same reception. For example, some shows perform better on PBS or HBO because that’s where their audience already is and where they expect to find those shows.
When Death in Paradise originally debuted in 2011, it was limited to local PBS station pick-ups, and then wound up lost in the sea of British shows sloshing around on Hulu and Netflix. However, since BritBox consolidated it on its platform, along with both spinoffs, Beyond Paradise and Return to Paradise, the real question is how best to coordinate and maximize viewership. The streaming service initially aired new seasons of Death in Paradise as soon as legally permitted; the same went for Beyond Paradise, creating a back-to-back release from February-April. Since the two did well on the BBC airing back-to-back over the cold winter months, it seemed logical American fans would want to follow suit.
However, that conventional wisdom has been upended in the last year. In 2025, BritBox held Beyond Paradise until October, scheduling it to follow the newest spinoff, Return to Paradise. It seems the plan is now moving away from the show being a “warm cozy crime TV for winter” to a “cold mysteries in hot climates for summer.” Death in Paradise Season 15 is inching down the calendar to conclude closer to the debut of Return to Paradise Season 2.
Here’s the Season 15 synopsis:
Still feeling like a fish out of water, DI Mervin Wilson continues to adjust to life on the island. The island agony aunt is poisoned by her own column, an academic is seemingly killed by a mythical sea monster, and a former hitman becomes the victim – of a hit. Meanwhile, a newly uncovered family connection brings more than Mervin bargained for.

Season 15 will bring back Don Gilet (Sherwood) as DI Mervin Wilson alongside series stalwarts Don Warrington as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, Élizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey, and Shantol Jackson as DS Naomi Thomas. Season 14 additions returning for the new season include Shaquille Ali-Yebuah as PC Sebastian Rose and Daniel Ward as Solomon Wilson, Mervin’s long-lost brother. The main cast will also gain a newcomer to the station with Catherine Garton (The War Between the Land & the Sea) as the newly recruited Sergeant Mattie Fletcher.

The guest cast roster for Season 15 will include well-known faces for America veiwers, including Siobhan Finneran (Happy Valley), Tim McMullan (Magpie Murders), Hermione Norris (Luther), Julian Rhind-Tutt (Tom Jones), Lizzie Davidson (Such Brave Girls), Ace Bhatti (Baptiste), Antonia Bernath (Nolly), Steffan Rhodri (Steeltown Murders), Sarah Hadland (The Man Who Fell to Earth), Ben Willbond (Ghosts U.K.), and Sean Delaney (Killing Eve).
Other guest stars announced include Gary Wilmot (Midsomer Murders), Phoebe Sparrow (Dalgliesh), Louis Davison (Vikings: Valhalla), Scarlett Alice Johnson (The Good Karma Hospital), Kojo Kamara (The Outlaws), Layo-Christina Akinlude (The Stolen Girl), Sandra James-Young (The Sandman), and Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge (Guilt).

Death in Paradise, and its multiple spinoffs, were created by Robert Thorogood, who handed over lead writer duties to James Hall after Season 10. Hall penned episodes along with current script regulars Tom Nash, Patrick Homes, and James Coleman. Directors for Season 15 include Leon Lopez, Jennie Paddon, and Ian Aryeh. Thorogood remains an executive producer alongside Tim Key, Tony Jordan, Belinda Campbell, Alex Jones, and Tommy Bulfin for the BBC.
Death in Paradise Season 15 will premiere on BritBox on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, and will follow a weekly release schedule, with new episodes on Tuesdays through mid-June. Seasons 1-14 are available to stream on BritBox.
