'Riot Women's Season 1 Soundtrack Is All Bangers
While the world waits for 'Riot Women' Season 2 to arrive, the soundtrack is here for you to rock out to.
Riot Women Season 2 is already in production, having been renewed before it debuted on this side of the pond. However, while there's every chance the BBC will get a Season 2 premiere date before the end of 2026, Americans are most likely going to have to wait until at least early 2027 before it arrives on BritBox. Thankfully, there's the soundtrack for those of us who are going to need to rage against the patriarchy in the meantime.
Star Rosalie Craig, who plays singer Kitty Eckersley, was no stranger to music, having played key roles in theatrical productions of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Threepenny Opera, and Company. However, the rest of the band – Joanna Scanlan as keyboard player Beth Thornton, Lorraine Ashbourne as drummer Jess Burchill, Tamsin Greig as bassist Holly Gaskell, Amelia Bullmore as guitarist Yvonne Vaux – all learned to play their instruments as part of the series' rehearsal process.
That means that while the Fab Five may be playing their own songs in the show, they weren't the ones who wrote them. That honor went to punk duo ARXX, Hannah Pidduck and Clara Townsend. The pair contributed four songs in total to the soundtrack, three of which were original works written for the show – "Just Like Your Mother," "Seeing Red," and the show's title track, "Riot Women." The fourth, "Crying in the Carwash," is the title track off their 2024 album Good Boy.
Here's a full run down of all the songs featured in the series – both the original songs by ARXX, and the other more familiar grunge numbers from the 1990s
