Everything British Worth Streaming in March 2024

As of March 1, 2024, there are 92 days, aka 13 weeks, left in the 2023-2024 television season for networks to debut their offerings in order to be deemed eligible for the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards. In other words, Ladies, Gentlemen, and Those Who Choose Not To Identify In Either Of Those Categories who love Peak TV, start your popcorn maker engines.

A few award contenders have already debuted here and there; Apple TV+'s Masters of the Air, and FX's Shōgun are two of the more notable titles that will be mentioned come Emmy voting time. However, most of the titles that networks think have the best shot are always held until the last 90 days of the award season eligibility calendar to maximize their chances of being top of mind when the voting starts in June. And as most of those shows either are made in the U.K., star U.K. actors, or are in some way U.K. adjacent, that means, through no fault of its own, this list usually winds up with some of the most prestigious of prestige TV shows when spring rolls around.

Unfortunately, even we have our limits when it comes to stretching the definition of what makes a British show. (Sorry to Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire; you may be better than you have any right to be and littered with British actors, but you just don't count.) But that doesn't mean we don't have some seriously delicious shows on tap for March 2024, thanks to the ambitions of Apple TV+, HBO, and yes, even Disney+. Though for my money, the best titles this month are on BritBox, hands down.
