Temuera Morrison's New Series 'Far North' Looks Hilarious
Sundance Now first announced its forthcoming original series Far North back in September 2022, the same time AMC+ announced it was putting VV James’ Sanctuary into preproduction. At the time, both were slated for 2023 and perhaps, unsurprisingly, that was a little ambitious. Sanctuary debuted the first week of January 2024; now, Far North will premiere on Thursday, February 15, 2024, on Sundance Now and AMC+. The Kiwi-Noir stars Temuera Morrison, best known as the titular star of The Book of Boba Fett, and Robyn Malcolm, a homegrown New Zealand TV star who has been a household name since the 1990s.
The six-episode drama tells the (mostly) true story of how the most comically inept gang to ever join forces got half a billion dollars worth of meth to New Zealand shores – and nearly to market. As the logline reads, “And they would have got away with it too if it wasn’t for a pesky 70-year-old Māori diesel mechanic and his aqua-aerobics instructing wife…” named Ed and Heather, played by Morrison and Malcolm.
“Far North is a saga of screw-ups, as everyday people strive to foil an international drug cartel’s largest-ever drug deal in the Pacific; the cops trip themselves up; and gangsters chase a payday with zero discretion – leaving a trail of wreckage you can see from space.” Check out the trailer for the six-part series.
