Millie Bobby Brown Will Be a Self Rescuing 'Damsel' This March

Since becoming Netflix's first breakout star in Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown has been steering her own career to play the type of heroine she wants to see on the screen. While that is not as rare as one might think for women in the industry, especially for women over the age of 35, for a star to start taking control before turning 16 (and a female star at that) is unusual. Her latest is a self-rescuing princess sold into marriage, believing her biggest problem will be siring a male heir. Little does she know the groom's family actually wants her to sacrifice to a dragon.

Brown's choice to play the types of roles she wants to see has been a smart move, as it turns out the characters she wants to play are the same type of characters other girls her age want to watch. Her Enola Holmes franchise of films has been wildly successful for Netflix since it first debuted in the fall of 2020. Stranger Things continues to be the streaming service's flagship series.

Now Damsel looks to be a brand new subsection of the fantasy genre she's about to dominate as a sword-wielding, ballgown-wearing, dragon-slaying, butt-kicking princess who doesn't need anyone to rescue her, thank you very much. At this rate, Netflix might as well simply give her carte blanche to keep making whatever she wants. Check out the trailer.
