'Peaky Blinders' Season 6 Trailer Marks the End of an Era

The BBC released the first trailer for the final season of Peaky Blinders, which promises a dark, chaotic end to the popular period gangster series.

Set in Birmingham, England in the aftermath of World War I, the story follows the exploits of Tommy Shelby and his family, leaders of the infamous gang known as the Peaky Blinders. (Though the Shelbys are fictional, the gang they are a part of did exist during the 1890s, even if the real group never gained nearly as much power or influence as Tommy and his brothers wield.) As we head into the final season, the Peaky Blinders are reeling from a failed assassination attempt against fascist leader Oswald Mosley which has left several key players injured or dead, an event which may well have been caused by one of their own turning traitor.

Though this clip is fairly brief, it's also not messing around. Dark both literally and figuratively, it promises that Season 6 may well be something of a grisly end to the dramatic story we've been watching build for five seasons now.

"One last deal to be done, then we Peaky Blinders can rest," Tommy's voice dramatically intones over shots that include glimpses of burning buildings, gunfire, and both Nazi and Blackshirts rallies.

The trailer reveals that both Tom Hardy and Anya Taylor-Joy are back for this final run of episodes, alongside the major cast that includes Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, Finn Cole, Sophie Rundle, and Stephen Graham.
