Second Season of Fantasy Drama 'Britannia' to Air on Epix

Premium cable network Epix will be the new U.S. home for lavish fantasy drama Britannia beginning this summer. The first season of the series streamed on Amazon Prime Video back in 2018, and though the second aired in the U.K. last year, it had yet to cross the pond.

Described as a "genre-bending, psychedelic tale of clashing faith systems, torn apart families, mystic men, powerful women, all told with humor, heart, and violence", Britannia is set in 43 A.D. during the Roman invasion of Britain, as General Aulus attempts to conquer the land's powerful druids and warrior queens. The first season follows the story of Kerra (Kelly Reilly), the daughter of the King of Cantil, who must put aside her differences with her arch-rival Queen Atedia (Zoe Wanamaker) in order to try and fight back against the Romans. Elsewhere, the rogue druid Divis, who saw the Roman invasion, discovers an ally in a young Cantil girl, Cait, with a great destiny. The Roman general, Aulus Plautius (David Morrissey), is determined to succeed where Julius Caesar failed and conquer this mythical land at the far edge of the Roman Empire.

Drama - and a whole lot of other weirdness - ensues.
