'Silent Witness' Season 29 Hits BritBox in April as Season 30 Filming Begins
The wait for 'Silent Witness' Season 29 won't be nearly as long as usual as the BBC gears up for Season 30.
There's usually a good nine-month delay between the U.K. premiere of Silent Witness and its arrival on BritBox in the U.S. The series tends to kick off the year on the BBC, airing in January or February, which means by the time it surfaces in America in the late summer/early autumn, the next season has completed filming, even if the BBC hasn't officially announced it yet. However, that won't be the pattern for Season 29 and Season 30, the former of which is set to arrive on BritBox in April, and the latter already has filming underway.
It's a bit of an awkward situation because Silent Witness is hitting a major milestone with Season 30. The series is officially the longest-running crime procedural in BBC history, and any season that ends with a zero is one that's going to get celebrated. However, since Season 29 hasn't debuted in the States yet, the BBC is understandably reticent to officially announce Season 30, but it's an open secret that it's currently filming.
One of the locations, Bodenham Arboretum, posted on social media, boasting that it had been chosen for the forthcoming season. "Bodenham had the privilege of being chosen as the BBC drama’s Silent Witness base camp whilst filming locally for the 30th series."

Meanwhile, U.S. fans are still waiting on Season 29. Here's the (barebones) synopsis:
As Nikki, Jack, Harriet, and Kit open the doors to the Sir William Bowman Centre of Excellence in Birmingham for the first time, a new set of murder mysteries haunts the team...
