'SisterS' Season 2 Will Premiere Across AMC+, Acorn TV & IFC
AMC is admitting it’s not sure where the best place for ex-Sundance shows is, with 'SisterS' Season 2 debuting across three different platforms.
Sundance Now never had any major breakout British series during its decade or so of being an Acorn TV clone under the AMC Networks umbrella. Since the format change at the top of 2026, the shows that have moved over from Sundance to Acorn have done so with little fanfare, since most of them were unknowns to begin with. However, with the debut of SisterS Season 2, AMC is admitting it’s not sure where the best place for ex-Sundance shows to debut now, as it spreads the show’s sophomore season across three different platforms: Acorn TV, AMC+, and IFC.
SisterS is an Irish/Canadian co-production that hails from best-friend comedy team Sarah Goldberg (Industry) and Susan Stanley (Fair City), who play the series’ titular siblings, Sare and Suze. Raised in Canada, Sare discovers the man she believed to be her father was not when her mother dies, sending her across the Atlantic to find her biological father, and accidentally discovers she has a half-sibling, Suze—the two band together to track down where their father scuttled off to.
Season 1 ended with Sare discovering that her bio-dad, Jimmy, knew of her existence all along, and spent decades trying to contact her, something Suze actively sabotaged. However, it turns out Suze had good reason: Jimmy is a drunken lout and violent besides, stealing Sare’s engagement ring and pawning it for booze. Suze gets the ring back, but by then Sare has left, heartbroken by their father’s betrayal.
Season 2 picks up with the sisters still separated as Suz tries to find Sare and repair their relationship. Here’s the synopsis:
After being abandoned by her sister Sare in Ireland, Suze discovers unsettling news about her fertility. Meanwhile, in Toronto, Sare is planning her wedding, but hiding a secret health crisis. When an unexpected invitation to Sare’s wedding prompts Suze to travel to Canada, a chaotic journey begins—filled with family secrets, unexpected revelations, and strained relationships. As Sare’s wedding day approaches, Suze uncovers more about her sister’s struggles, and both women are forced to confront their pasts and their futures.

Goldberg and Stanley return alongside Donal Logue (Vikings) and Sophie Thompson (Sex Education), reprising their roles as Jimmy and Sheryl, respectively. Other stars include Sonja Smits (American Gods), Peter Keleghan (Murdoch Mysteries), Barbara Brennan (Dublin Murders), Jim Annan (Crawford), Linda Kash (Cavendish), Dylan Taylor (Station Eleven), and Vanessa Matsui (Saint-Pierre).
Season 2 was once again created by Stanley and Goldberg, with their characters Sare and Suze loosely based on their own friendship. Stanley is technically the head writer, with writers Karen Kicak, Nessa Wrafter, and Paul Stanley also helping pen episodes. Director Yael Staav (Workin’sister’s Moms) helmed all episodes.
SisterS Season 2 will debut simultaneously on Acorn TV, AMC+, and IFC TV on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The series will follow a weekly release schedule with new episodes on Wednesdays through the beginning of May.
