Starz Expands the Neighborhood of Upcoming Drama 'The Couple Next Door'
Additional casting has been announced for the upcoming Starz drama The Couple Next Door, a psychological thriller that aims to explore the dark corners of modern-day marriage and life in suburbia by way of a story about hypercompetitive attractive people obsessed with what others think of them. (And who all seem to be incapable of appreciating their own good fortune.)
Starz already announced the main quartet of performers attached to the series, tapping Outlander star Sam Heughan and Poldark alum Eleanor Tomlinson to lead the cast alongside Alfred Enoch (Foundation) and Jessica De Gouw (Underground). Now Hugh Dennis (Fleabag) and Kate Robbins (Unforgotten) have officially moved into the neighborhood to join them.
Loosely adapted from the Dutch series New Neighbours, the series follows the story of Evie (Tomlinson) and Pete (Enoch), a couple who move into an upscale neighborhood full of nosy neighbors, status seekers, and unexpected pressures to keep up appearances with those around them. The pair finds unexpected friendship in the form of the couple next door, a traffic cop named Danny (Heughan), and his glamourous yoga instructor wife, Becka (De Gouw). All seems well until Evie and Danny share a passionate night with one another, an event that causes their lives to become entangled in a way that will change everything for both couples.
