'Such Brave Girls' Introduce a Brave Cat for Season 2
Such Brave Girls is bravely releasing the first images from Season 2 of the series, and the big headline, at least for a particular subsection of the viewership, is that Billie is now in possession of a tabby cat.
Based on series creator and star Kat Sadler's own experiences living through a mental health crisis in the early 2020s, Such Brave Girls is about a deeply dysfunctional family, told from the perspective of one of the daughters, Josie, from the depths of a mental health crisis already in progress. Their father walked out; their mother can barely manage basic adulting, barely managing to scrape by, living in the sort of falling-to-bits squalid filth only those who grew up in families of home-squatters instead of homemakers will be deeply familiar with. All Josie has to lean on is her sister, Billie, who is just as traumatized, if not more so, over their father's abandoning the family.
Season 1 was a critical darling; our reviewer said, "Brave also describes a show so willing to confront mental illness and toxic dysfunction in such a non-politically correct way. The way the comedy confronts topics including eating disorders, abortion, and drug use is also brave." With Sadler taking home her first-ever BAFTA win for the series, it was unsurprising to learn the series had been renewed for a second season. While Season 2's guest stars remain under wraps, the real question is "who plays the cat?"
