Dan Stevens to Lead AMC Anthology Installment 'The Terror: Devil in Silver'

When Dan Stevens left Downton Abbey back in 2012, a lot of viewers wondered if he was making a huge mistake. After all, he was one of the series' biggest stars and half of its most popular romance (Matthew + Mary forever!). But in the decade since departing Highclere Castle, Stevens has gone on to become the franchise's most successful export, forging his own path as an actor and taking on a wide variety of roles in everything from summer blockbusters to indie films and niche television series.

From his portrayal of mentally unstable David Haller in FX's delightfully weird superhero series Legion to his recent turn as an offbeat Kaiju wrangler in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Stevens has seemingly delighted in taking on roles that span genres and character types. And he's now set to lead The Terror: Devil in Silver, the third installment of AMC's popular horror anthology series.

Based on Victor LaValle's novel The Devil in Silver, the story is an atmospheric tale of a monster in an insane asylum that may or may not exist. Stevens will play Pepper, a working-class man who finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital, an institution filled with the kinds of people society would rather forget. As he navigates unruly fellow patients, doctors with dark secrets of their own, and a strange entity that seems to feed on the suffering the hospital producers, he'll have to navigate a hellscape where nothing is as it seems --- and where the worst monsters of all may live inside him.
