The 'Too Much' Trailer Is Never Enough

The 'Too Much' Trailer Is Never Enough

Netflix initially announced it was greenlighting Too Much from American cultural lightning rod Lena Dunham at the end of 2023, which notably included British actor Will Sharpe, who was coming off his star-making turn in The White Lotus Season 2 at the time. However, the streamer did not specify that this was part of its U.K. slate until the tail end of January 2025, and American media have mainly focused on American lead Megan Stalter, who in the interim has become a significant name herself for her turn on Hacks.

However, the romantic comedy series is British, set in London, with a predominantly U.K.-based cast, save for Stalter, who plays the American fish out of water being all starry-eyed over the city as she searches for her perfect Englishman while hanging out with a downer of a manchild musician. By "American fish out of water," I mean "a grotesquely exaggerated version of Dunham," who recently married English musician Luis Felber. Febler collaborated on the series with Dunham and composed the soundtrack, so one assumes he's ok with all this.

(However, I swear if this was not pitched as "Dunham-Does-Love Actually," I'm going to have words with someone.)
