'The Buccaneers' Season 2 Trailer Features Longing, Romance & Chappell Roan
Apple TV+'s exuberant, chaotic period drama The Buccaneers is set to return for its second season next month, and if the trailer is anything to go by, both the titular girl gang of besties and the audience watching at home are in for a wild ride. The story, which follows a squad of American heiresses who arrive in England seeking rich husbands, isn't your mother's Edith Wharton adaptation. But that's what makes it fun.
Season 1 ended suitably dramatically, with Nan choosing to marry Theo, Duke of Tintagel, despite having feelings for his best friend, Guy, to help her pregnant sister, Jinny, flee the country and escape her abusive spouse. Elsewhere, Conchita's family has lost all their money, her husband Richard's dad is dying, and Mabel has broken off her engagement to Miles and come out to her sister, Lizzy, and confessed her romantic feelings to Honoria.
There's clearly a lot of heavy stuff coming our girls' way in the series' second season, and the trailer wastes no time jumping right in. Set to the (absolutely perfect) soundtrack of Chappell Roan's "Good Luck, Babe!", the trailer shows us a Nan wrestling with her choices, vowing to make her new life work and leave Guy behind, as shots of various lush landscapes, lavish parties, and what appears to be LIzzy's wedding (!?) unspool in rapid-fire order. Lord Seadown threatens Nan! Mabel and Honoria look happy! Everyone's dressed like fairies!
