'Welcome to Wrexham's Season 3 Trailer Arrives as the Team Reaches League One

Back in February, during the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, FX initially set mid-April 2024 as the debut date for Welcome to Wrexham Season 3. It was a surprise announcement for fans, who were used to the series airing in the summer and fall after the events of the spring football season in the U.K. had ended and the series had time to edit the documentary-style series into a narrative. But with the Wrexham team improving by leaps and bounds under the ownership of A-list stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds and the wins stacking up, the series felt it was time to air much closer to the actual events of the season so fans could get a more real-time reaction.

Unfortunately, April turned out to be a little too quick a turnaround for the production to handle, but only by a week or two. The show was quietly postponed to a May premiere a few weeks later. That still gives the show the ability to boast that this season, “with the team taking their place in the EFL, Welcome to Wrexham’s cameras will have unprecedented access on the pitch, bringing viewers inside the locker room and alongside the players, while the action is unfolding in some of the biggest matches Wrexham AFC has ever played.” However, it does give the editors a touch of breathing room to allow the story to be crafted into a narrative whole.

And from the looks of it, it’s going to be a joyous narrative; with only days to go before the new season’s premiere, Wrexham has already made history again. On Saturday, April 13, The Red Dragons snagged a 6-0 win over Forest Green, landing the team a promotion to League One, the third-highest league in the U.K.
