Everything British for PBS Viewers to Stream in June 2025
June is a somewhat awkward month on PBS for several reasons. As an American broadcast station that submits series for awards consideration, June marks the beginning of the new TV year, since the Emmys eligibility calendar typically ends on May 31. However, as a public broadcaster with an educational mission, the actual company operates on an academic calendar (which starts in July), so as far as HR and fundraising are concerned, June marks the end of the year. That means local stations have two weeks of pledge programming at the beginning of the month to make a final donations push before closing the books.
The result is that June is usually lighter on new arrivals than some other months, since the first two weeks are dedicated to specials prebuilt with pledge breaks. (This is also the case for August, December, and March, though the latter two tend to make up for it with big debuts once pledge concludes.) June, however, is the start of the TV year and the traditional "Summer of Mysteries," which is currently anchored by fan favorite Grantchester, and will be instrumental in bringing in audiences to the newest addition to the PBS mystery lineup, Patience, the English-language remake of the Walter Presents French hit Astrid (Astrid & Raphaelle) reset in York.
It also marks the debut of PBS and the BBC's major event series, Walking with Dinosaurs, the follow-up to the extremely popular BBC series from 2001. That's not even getting into the latest show PBS has nabbed from BritBox or Walter Presents' newest titles. Let's run down everything British streaming and airing on local PBS stations for June 2025.
