'The Diplomat' Accredited a Season 4 Ahead of Season 3's Fall 2025 Premiere

Kate Wyler’s diplomatic mission has been extended once more. During its Upfronts presentation in New York City, Netflix announced that its popular political thriller The Diplomat has been renewed for a fourth season. This is huge news given that Season 3 of the series hasn’t aired yet, and isn’t slated to premiere until a still-to-be-determined date in the Fall of 2025. So, while we won’t know much about what Season 4 will entail for a while, there’s comfort in knowing that whatever bonkers cliffhanger Season 3 throws at us, we’ll get to find out the answer.

The series stars Keri Russell as Kate, the American ambassador to the United Kingdom, who didn’t particularly want the assignment when she got it. Her reluctance was proven correct when an international incident occurred within days of assuming her post. Her situation is further complicated by the ongoing power struggle in her marriage, given that her husband, Hal (Rufus Sewell), is a well-known diplomat in his own right and not used to keeping his professional advice to himself.

The Diplomat Season 2 ended in chaos. The Wylers discovered that American Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) committed some light treason, the final push Kate needed to realize she’s ready for the VP job herself. Unfortunately, the untimely death of President Rayburn (thanks, Hal!) means that Grace is now President Penn, and all the Wylers’ big plans for Kate’s future are ashes.
