Acorn TV Confirms 'The Madame Blanc Mysteries' Will Return for Season 4
Acorn TV and Channel 5 have officially announced the commission of The Madame Blanc Mysteries, the antiques-dealer turned amateur sleuth series created by and starring Sally Lindsay, for a fourth season. The cozy crime show has been one of Acorn TV's most successful sleeper hits since the beginning of the 2020s, reaching a point of popularity that it earned itself a coveted "Festive Episode" for Christmas 2023, an honor bestowed by the U.K. networks to only the most watched series on their networks. As a sign of how well that did, the new season will also have a festive special, ensuring the series will return before the end of 2024.
Like most shows that premiere early in the year, the Christmas 2023 episode was technically the premiere episode of The Madame Blanc Mysteries Season 3. This worked better in the U.K., as the show premiered only a few weeks later. However, for American viewers watching on Acorn TV, it was a bit like Call The Midwife, where the Christmas special is the season opener in the U.K. but arrives three months before the rest of the episodes on PBS.
Acorn TV dealt with that by glomming the special onto the two-episode premiere of Season 3, so anyone who had missed it could catch up. (PBS could take a lesson!) With Season 4 most likely following the same schedule in 2024/2025, fans should expect Acorn TV to do the same for this year's seven-episode Season 4.
