Paramount+ Romantic Comedy 'Colin From Accounts' Snags Third Season Renewal
If you haven't heard of Colin From Accounts, well, you probably aren't alone. But it's really time we changed that. The Australian relationship comedy was one of the most critically acclaimed series of the past few years. (It's currently sitting at 100% fresh on the Rotten Tomatoes review aggregator.) It has insanely strong word of mouth among those who have seen it. (Just imagine me yelling 'There are dozens of us!' a la Tobias from Arrested Development.) But the streaming marketplace is downright brutal out there, and despite its critical bona fides, Paramount+ hasn't put a ton of its marketing budget behind this little show that could. But at least they have renewed it for a third season. (Thank goodness.)
A sharp, off-kilter romantic comedy, Colin From Accounts follows the story of med-student Ashley and brewery owner Gordon, a couple played by real-life spouses Patrick Brammall (Evil) and Harriet Dyer (American Auto), who have a somewhat dark meet-cute after some flirting leads to an injured dog (the titular Colin). Though there are plenty of reasons that their relationship shouldn't work, ranging from a 10-year difference in age to their difficult families, the pair can't deny the chemistry between them. The series' second season ended on an awkward cliffhanger, leaving an unanswered proposal hanging in the balance. But given that Brammall and Dyer have indicated that Season 3 will begin with a time jump, we may have to wait a bit to find out all the details of exactly what happened.
“We’re very excited to bring you season three of our show,” Brammall and Dyer said in a joint statement. “To be honest, with the way we ended season two it would have been weird not to make a third, so here we are. We promise we won’t leave you hanging like that again. Probably.”
