Prime Video Already Looking to the Holidays with ‘Your Christmas Or Mine 2’

Holiday creep has been an issue for decades, with Halloween decor coming out before the summer is over and Christmas stuff arriving just as one is shopping for back-to-school supplies. It's also taken over TV; networks that make all their ratings on Holiday movies typically debut their first new films in mid-October. Streaming quickly followed suit, especially once Netflix proved it wasn't just Lifetime and Hallmark who had the domain over romances by the fire and sleighbells in the snow. Dinsey+, Hulu, and Amazon's Prime Video have all gotten in on the act, with Amazon bringing British Christmas films like Your Christmas or Mine? and the newly announced sequel.

Your Christmas or Mine originally premiered in December 2022 with little marketing; we here at Telly Visions only happened to notice it because we do monthly roundups of all things British. But despite Prime Video not doing much to promote the film, the winning combination of Sex Education's Asa Butterfield and relative newcomer Cora Kirk (Midsomer Murders) turned the film into a modest hit. Like any Christmas-themed film that does well, that called for a sequel. (It's a rule, ask The Christmas Prince or The Princess Switch.) And lo, Prime Video has greenlit a second one, titled Your Christmas or Mine 2.

The first film featured Butterfield and Kirk as James and Hayley, who, in a Gift of the Magi-like set-up, secretly decide to surprise the other with a visit to see them at home over the holidays. Of course, upon arriving, they learn the other is long gone and spend the holidays snowed in with each other's parents, desperately trying to make a good first impression without any guidance. The good news is that, at least in the first images, whatever happens in the sequel will occur with the two spending time together on screen.
