As every good Anglophile already knows, cozy crime dramas are all the rage right now, and with good reason. (Most of us desperately need some escapism in our lives these days.) If that inevitable murder investigation happens to take place in a particularly beautiful location? That's just a bonus, really. Shows like Irish Blood, Murder in Provence, and Signora Volpe all treat their lush settings like full-fledged characters in the stories they're telling, and the scenery is basically reason enough to watch on its own.

(Dare we insert an "it's to die for" joke here? Too soon?)

BritBox's latest entry in this popular subgenre is the forthcoming A Taste for Murder, a six-part series from Eagle Eye Drama, the production house behind the popular English-language remakes of shows like Professor T and Before We Die. Although it's technically going to be a procedural, its story will revolve around both crime-solving and classic Italian cuisine. Translation: Prepare to be both jealous of the show's gorgeous locale and hungry.

Set in sunny Capri, A Taste for Murder stars Warren Brown (The Responder) as a British detective who relocates to Italy with his daughter following a devastating family tragedy. While staying with his in-laws, he finds himself (surprise!) getting involved in local murder investigations. The show's unique hook is that each episode features a familiar Italian dish as the main theme of each case. Thank goodness the family owns a restaurant.

Here's the series' description.

Set amidst the steep cliffs and fast tides of Capri, A Taste for Murder features classic Italian cuisine as the main ingredient to each episode’s central murder mystery, revealing the power of food to foster connection, community, and healing after devastating loss.

(For those who may remember our interview with Eagle Eye's Jo McGrath, this was the Italian set mystery series she couldn't tell us too much about.)
