‘You’re Killing Me’ Adds Peri Gilpin for Season 2

Production is officially underway on the second season of You’re Killing Me, Acorn TV’s clearly British-inspired cozy mystery with a distinctly American feel. Set in a quaint New England coastal town and missing the accents most of us expect in this genre, the first season was still a massive hit for the streaming service. Since its May debut, You’re Killing Me has been Acorn TV’s most-watched series and biggest subscription driver, joining other recent record-breaking series Irish Blood and Art Detectives.

The series stars Brooke Shields (When Calls the Heart) and Amalia Williamson (Sullivan’s Crossing) as the predictably offbeat investigative duo Allie and Andi. One’s an accomplished novelist, the other’s a podcaster and aspiring writer, and both have a lot to learn about both solving murders and the generation gap between them. The first season ended with several outstanding plot threads; the second will have to resolve them, including a major revelation about Andi’s mom and the arrival of a woman who may or may not be police detective Jack Kerrigan’s wife (Tom Cavanagh).

The series’ second season will also introduce Peri Gilpin (Frasier) as Allie’s sister, Audra, a critically acclaimed author who has won buckets of awards and had her pieces published in the most prestigious literary journals. Allie has also been commercially successful, but she’s never felt as though she measured up to her seemingly perfect sibling. But when Audra gets involved in a murder mystery while visiting Allie, their complicated relationship takes center stage.

Here’s the Season 2 synopsis.

In Season 2 of You’re Killing Me, Allie and Andi’s first novel together is about to hit bookstores as an instant New York Times bestseller. But instead of celebrating that success, Andi is worried she’ll be seen as an opportunist rather than a legitimate co-author. So, she is secretly determined to prove she has the talent to stand on her own. Meanwhile, Allie tries to find her romantic footing with Jack, which isn’t easy when she and Andi keep stumbling into murders that put their friendship, their careers, and sometimes their lives on the line.

Robin Bernheim, known for Netflix’s Princess Switch trilogy, created the series. (She also wrote Mother of the Bride, a film she collaborated on with Shields.) Bernheim and Shields are also executive producers, alongside Christina Jennings and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury, Michael Volpe for Topsail, and Dan March for Dynamic Television, as well as James Genn, Lee Goldberg, Phoef Sutton, and Derek Thompson.

You’re Killing Me Season 2 is currently in production and is expected to debut in mid-2027. Season 1 is available to stream on Acorn TV.
