Disney+ Sets November Release Date for German Original 'Vienna Game'
The lush period drama about the 1814–1815 Congress of Vienna will hit Hulu this month.
Everyone's getting into the international drama game these days, and Disney+ is no exception. While it's not as known for its foreign-language dramas as some of its competitors—looking at you, Netflix—the streamer has been building a decent library of excellent titles under its Hulu umbrella. But its forthcoming new addition, a German period drama called Vienna Game, feels like one of its more intriguing offerings in some time.
The six-part series will chronicle the events of the infamous Congress of Vienna, a series of meetings that aimed to craft a new European order after Napoleon Bonaparte's exile to the island of Elba in 1814. The Congress's objective was not simply to restore old international boundaries but to redraw them so that the major European powers would both balance each other out and serve as shepherds that protect the smaller nations.
The Disney version of events will focus more on the lavish opulence of it all, portraying it as a gripping power game of influence, intrigue, and powerful emotions. (And essentially a nine-month party full of lavish festivities, diplomatic maneuvering, and messy emotional entanglements.) Set against the lavish backdrop of mid-nineteenth-century Vienna, the city becomes the stage for a fascinating game in which love, politics, and personal interests are inextricably intertwined.

Here's the series' synopsis.
1814: Napoleon Bonaparte has been exiled to Elba, while Vienna becomes the centre of the world. Amid lavish balls and decadent luxury, the great powers – Britain, Russia, Austria, Prussia and France – negotiate a new order for Europe, while clever women skilfully and determinedly pull the strings behind the scenes.
At the heart of the period dramedy is Wilhelmine von Sagan, a brilliant and seductive noblewoman determined to steer the peace negotiations – and Prince Metternich – in her favour and help shape the future of Europe. But her ambitions are threatened not only by shifting alliances and ruthless rivals, but also by her dangerous affair with Baron Amor Łaski, a charismatic Bonapartist, spy and political adversary.
What begins as a strategic calculation turns into a dance of attraction, rivalry and seduction. As Vienna becomes a glittering chessboard of power, diplomacy and desire, Wilhelmine must navigate a treacherous web of intrigue, espionage and betrayal.

The series' ensemble cast includes Marlene Tanczik (Long Story Short), Daniel Donskoy (Fightland), Alexander Scheer (The Island), Vladimir Burlakov (Tatort), Fritz Karl (Unter Feinden), Erwin Steinhauer (Vienna Blood), Louis-Do de Lencquesaing (Transatlantic), Ben Miles (The Capture), Axel Milberg (Doktor Martin), Roxane Duran (Marie Antoinette), Emma Nova (Wild Republic), Julia Anna Grob (Eyewitness), Rufus Beck (Split Homicide), Heikko Deutschmann (The Wheel of Time), Jakob Diehl (Dark), Catrin Striebeck (Intimate), Trystan Pütter (Babylon Berlin), and Heike Makatsch (Where's Wanda).
Created and written by Stefan Brunner (Freud), with Hannu Salonen directing and Felix Cramer as director of photography. The six-part series is produced by Bettina Kuhn for Vienna-based Satel Film.
Vienna Game will premiere on Hulu on November 18, 2026.
