‘House of Guinness’ Pulls a Season 2 Renewal
Steven Knight’s saga of the infamous brewing family will continue.
Raise a glass, period drama lovers: Netflix’s House of Guinness will return for a second season. Internet scuttlebutt has been bullish on the historical drama’s renewal for weeks, basically insisting that Season 2 was a done deal, though there was no official word to back it up. At long last, Netflix has finally confirmed that the series will indeed return for another outing. Given Knight’s prolific success as a creator, this isn’t hugely surprising news. But it’s exciting all the same.
Set in mid-nineteenth-century Dublin and New York, the series’ first season picked up immediately following the death of family patriarch Benjamin Lee Guinness, as his four children must find their own ways to live up to (or live with, in some cases) their family’s birthright. It ended on a rather shocking cliffhanger, as a gunshot rang out during a political rally, and it’s unclear which Guinness family member might have been caught in the crossfire.
“It was such a joy to bring the Guinness story to the screen, so I’m beyond thrilled to be continuing the story of one of the world’s greatest dynasties into Season 2,” creator Steven Knight told Netflix’s Tudum. “I can’t wait to dive deeper into these characters and their complex relationships as they expand the Guinness empire.”

House of Guinness explores an epic story inspired by one of Europe's most famous and enduring dynasties - the Guinness Family. Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, the story begins immediately after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery, and the far-reaching impact of his will on the fate of his four adult children, Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben, as well as on a group of Dublin characters who work and interact with the phenomenon that is Guinness.
“There’s so much more to find out about them,” Knight said. “We’ll see how they grow up because House of Guinness is about a family growing up together. Even in Season 1, they change quite a bit. In Season 2, it will be interesting to see what changes and what stays the same.”
Anthony Boyle (Manhunt), Fionn O’Shea (Normal People), Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes), and Emily Fairn (The Responder) are all set to return as the four Guinness heirs, alongside spouses and lovers Danielle Galligan (Shadow and Bone), Ann Skelly (The Sandman), Niamh McCormack (Small Town, Big Story) and James Norton (Game of Thrones).
Knight wrote all eight episodes of Season 1; it’s presumed he’ll do the same for the show’s second outing. Knight also served as an executive producer, alongside Karen Wilson, Elinor Day, Martin Haines, and Ivana Lowell.
House of Guinness Season 2 will begin production in January 2027. Season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix.
