PBS Sets 'Maigret' Remake Debut For Fall 2025
PBS has confirmed that the new contemporary set Maigret is officially joining the Fall 2025 Masterpiece lineup, giving the Benjamin Wainwright-starring remake of one of France's most famous detectives the plum premiere slot in October/November. Unlike The Gold (which was confirmed to debut on Sunday, October 5, all of a few days ago), Magriet's exact arrival date is still up in the air, since Masterpiece also has to fit in The Great Escaper. However, the announcement settles the question of which shows PBS plans to run in the first half of the 2025-2026 television season, and which will wait until the new year to appear on our screens.
(Sorry, Forsyte fans! Maybe it'll debut in January 2026 with Miss Scarlet and All Creatures?)
It's been two decades since the last adaptation of Maigret ended in 2005, and even longer since any of these serialized adaptations were shown on an American broadcast network. (The previous version to air in the States was the 1992 ITV series starring the late Michael Gambon in the title role. It ran for two seasons on ITV and PBS's Mystery!, ending in 1993.)
