Get ready to time-travel back to when Miss Scarlet was known as Miss Scarlet & the Duke. A new novelization based on the hit series is coming to a bookstore near you this summer, letting fans once again solve a case alongside female private investigator Eliza Scarlet (Kate Phillips) and Detective Inspector William Wellington (Stuart Martin). The book, titled Miss Scarlet & the Duke: House of Mystery, is the first original novel expanding the world of the popular Masterpiece franchise.

(This isn’t the first PBS series jumping on the novelization train; series writer Matthew Sweet already has not one but two Bookish tie-in titles on shelves.)

Written by Victoria Dowd, the new Miss Scarlet novel is set in the aftermath of the series’s first season. In it, Eliza and the Duke investigate the case of a murdered young woman whose body is discovered in a mummy’s sarcophagus. But the real mystery here isn’t the mysterious death that Miss Scarlet will be called on to solve, but the fact that she’ll be doing so with the man who isn’t her partner anymore — and hasn’t been for some time.
