‘MobLand’ Officially Handed Season 3 Renewal
Ahead of Season 2’s debut, Paramount+ officially declares that 'Mobland' Season 3 is a go.
MobLand Season 2 won’t debut until mid-September 2026, but no one will be surprised to hear that Paramount+ has already confirmed Season 3 has been given the go-ahead. Season 3 has been a topic of conversation since before the Season 2 first images arrived in June, when Puck reported that star Tom Hardy threw a diva-like hissy fit at producers over his contract and had been summarily fired as a result.
According to the report at the time, Hardy was upset because the series (which was originally supposed to air and stream on Showtime) had been pitched to him as a vehicle for him to shine as the A-list star in a prestige series, much as The Woman in the Wall was for Ruth Wilson and A Gentleman in Moscow was for Ewan McGregor. However, as anyone who followed the first season roll-out knows, the show was moved last minute from Showtime to Paramount+, with a marketing speedrun that would have completely failed were it not for one timely coincidence. Hardy’s two main co-stars, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, were already co-starring in a very well-marketed Netflix film that cast them as good-guy crime solvers.
With too little, too late from Paramount’s marketing department, Hardy’s involvement was overshadowed as entertainment reporters glommed onto the Brosnan/Mirren aspect. Moreover, most of the viewership that discovered the series over its ten-week run did so because of them – especially Mirren, who had just starred in Paramount+’s hit series 1923.
Whatever the truth of the situation, the leak was clearly a strategic move by someone to break the impasse between star and production. Soon enough, Variety was protesting that Hardy was still employed, and Mirren was out in front of the press making soothing noises. Now, the Season 3 renewal is official, and all three will be back for another set of episodes.
There’s no synopsis for Season 3 available (most likely because one would contain Season 2 spoilers), but since Season 2 isn’t even out yet, we’ll just go with the current logline:
In Season 2, the Harrigans struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire – and Harry Da Souza, their street-smart and formidable ‘fixer,’ must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify. As violence spills into every corner of their lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy.
Notably, the Season 3 cast also doesn’t list anyone but the three biggest stars as returning, at least not yet. That’s Hardy (Peaky Blinders) as loyal fixer Harry da Souza, alongside Brosnan (James Bond) and Mirren (The Queen) as crime family patriarch and matriarch Conrad and Maeve Harrigan. Once again, we assume the lack of details is to keep us from figuring out which supporting players won’t make it out of Season 2 alive.
Jez Butterworth (The Agency) penned all of Seasons 1 and 2 alongside Ronan Bennett (Day of the Jackal), and is expected to do the same for Season 3, with Ritchie returning to direct episodes. All three continue to serve as executive producers alongside Hardy; the rest of the executive team includes Keith Cox, Nina L. Diaz, David C. Glasser, Kris Thykier, Ivan Atkinson, Dean Baker, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari.
MobLand Season 2 will premiere on Paramount+ on Friday, September 18, 2026, and stream weekly through the end of November. Season 3 is expected to air in 2027.
