Sarah Snook's 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' Sets Broadway Debut
American theater lovers will have the chance to see some of the U.K.’s best productions in early 2025. Blockbuster musical Operation Mincemeat is headed to Broadway this spring, David Tennant’s (Rivals) sold-out West End Macbeth will be screened in theaters across the country, and Andrew Scott (Ripley) will reprise his award-winning turn in Vanya for a limited Off-Broadway revival. Now, Sarah Snook, this year’s Olivier winner for Best Actress, will bring her The Picture of Dorian Gray to American audiences in March.
The show will premiere at New York’s Music Box Theatre this March and will play a strictly limited 14-week run.
The one-woman production played to sold-out crowds in London’s West End and garnered widespread critical acclaim throughout its run earlier this year. British reviewers described it as brilliant, mesmerizing, and unmissable. The Picture of Dorian Gray sees Snook portray all 26 characters in Oscar Wilde’s classic story, mixing live performance and pre-filmed video throughout for a uniquely multi-media experience. Adapted and directed by Kip Williams during his tenure as Artistic Director at the acclaimed Sydney Theatre Company, the groundbreaking production will mark the Broadway debut of Snook, the Emmy-winning actress best known for her role as Shiv Roy on HBO’s acclaimed drama Succession.
