PBS Sets March Premiere For ‘The Forsytes’ Season 2
PBS confirms 'The Forsytes' will return in March 2027 to Masterpiece.
PBS has confirmed that the second season of its lavish The Forstyes remake will return to our screens next spring. If this feels like an exceptionally early announcement, it’s because, like All Creatures Great & Small, the series broadcasts in the U.K. on Channel 5 in the back half of the year, and it’s polite to let American audiences know how long they’ll have to wait.
A reimagining of John Galsworthy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning series of novels, the sprawling, intergenerational saga wrestles with themes of duty, love, and familial loyalty, told through a sprawling soap opera that’s got everything from corporate backstabbing to scandalous affairs. It’s true, this latest adaptation takes some liberties with its source material, but it’s got a certain “can’t look away from the car crash of these people’s lives” appeal.
The series’ first season ended in dramatic fashion, with several daunting new challenges and public humiliations. Jo leaves his wife for a life of adultery and poverty with former flame Louisa and their illegitimate children. He’s also quit his job at the family business, leaving Soames, a man who thinks that keeping his wife prisoner is somehow romantic, as the Forstye heir apparent. Meanwhile, Soames’s wife, Irene, is busy falling for Phillip, who happens to be engaged to Jo’s (awesome) stepdaughter, June. Frances, left to face the judgment of society as a woman abandoned by a man who doesn’t deserve her, appears to be self-medicating to survive. Not to be outdone, family matriarch Ann reveals the existence of a heretofore unknown grandson, news of which the rest of the family will absolutely take calmly and well once they all find out about it.
So, you know, there’s a lot of ground to cover when the show returns next spring. In the wise words of Marie Kondo, we love mess.
Here’s the brief Season 2 synopsis.
In this next chapter the proud dynasty faces a new era of scandal, ambition, and shifting loyalties. As love, legacy and reputation collide, the cracks in the family’s polished façade grow ever deeper.

The series’ expansive cast features Francesca Annis (Flesh & Blood), Stephen Moyer (Art Detectives), Jack Davenport (Ten Percent), Danny Griffin (The Gentlemen), Tuppence Middleton (Our House), Eleanor Tomlinson (The Couple Next Door), and Tom Durant Pritchard (Miss Scarlet).
New faces arriving this season include Sarah Alexander (The Marlow Murder Club), Richard Rankin (Outlander), and Nia Ashi (Art Detectives).
Debbie Horsfield wrote all episodes of Season 2. Directors Meenu Gaur (Murder Is Easy) and Annetta Laufer (Get Millie Black) split helming duties, with Sarah Lewis (The Long Shadow) producing. Horsfield and Gaur executive produce with Sheena Buckton-Wonsing, Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen, and Susanne Simpson for Masterpiece.
The Forsytes Season 2 will premiere on Thursday, October 22, 2026, on 5 in the U.K. The new season will then follow on PBS starting Sunday, March 28, 2027, on most PBS stations, the PBS app, and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel, with new episodes airing and streaming weekly through the beginning of May.

Season 1 of The Forsytes is streaming on PBS Passport for members and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel. The show has already been renewed for a third outing.
