‘The Gentlemen’ Season 3 Adds Both Hobbit & Elf to Cast

They're taking the Hobbits to... the Middle East?

Apparently, a hobbit’s pipe has more than tobacco in it. Or at least, that’s what Guy Ritchie seems to think. The man behind multiple hit series, including Young Sherlock and MobLand, has started production on Season 3 of his Netflix series The Gentlemen, and he’s bringing aboard multiple Middle-earth alumni for the series’ Middle East-set season.

Despite desperate rumors from someone’s camp that Meghan Markle would join the cast of the hit series, Prince Harry’s wife will not be co-starring in a gangster series full of sex, violence, and predicated on the idea that, in order to afford their palatial historic castles, the British aristocracy is a giant illegal cannabis operation. (As if, y’all.) However, the actual cast joining the series for Season 3 includes multiple members of the British acting aristocracy. Both Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom, famous for playing Frodo and Legolas in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy and its sequels and prequels, are joining the series for Season 3.

Does this mean audiences will finally find out exactly what everyone in Middle-earth is smoking in those giant pipes? Considering Ritchie’s past seasons, I wouldn’t bet against it.

Here’s the Season 3 synopsis:

In Season 3, Eddie and Susie embark upon their most audacious project yet: building a casino in the Middle East. But with danger lurking around every corner, has the Duke’s unchecked ambition finally gone too far?

Season 3 brings back Theo James (Sanditon) and Kaya Scodelario (Skins) as Eddie and Susie, alongside Ray Winstone (Damsel), Joely Richardson (Renegade Nell), Vinnie Jones (Elementary), Jasmine Blackborow (Marie Antoinette), Benjamin Clementine (Blitz), Harry Goodwins (Sunset Drive), and Maya Jama (The Duchess).

Series regulars Daniel Ings and Giancarlo Esposito are not listed to return.

Season 3 adds Woods (The Hobbit), Bloom (Midsomer Murders), Robert Carlyle (Line of Duty), Ed Speleers (Downton Abbey), Dexter Fletcher (I Hate Suzie), Saffron Burrows (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds), and Bruna Marquezine (Blue Beetle). Also, Bugzy Malone, who appeared in the original 2019 film, will reprise his role as Ernie.

Ritchie created The Gentlemen, inspired by his 2019 film of the same name. Ritchie co-writes the series with Matthew Read (Curfew) and directs with Erin Creevy; Laura Jackson and Max Keene produce. Ritchie and Read are executive producers, along with Will Gould, Frith Tiplady, Simon Crawford Collins, and Ivan Atkinson for Moonage Pictures.

The Gentlemen Season 3 is currently filming, with Season 3 expected out in late 2027 or early 2028. Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix.
