‘The Forsytes’ Season 2 Trailer Brings New Faces & Scandals
It's a good thing we love mess in this house.
The messiest family on Masterpiece will be heading back to our screens in the not-too-distant future. If the first trailer for The Forsytes’ second season is any indication, things will be even more dramatic this time around.
A sprawling, intergenerational tale that features everything from intra-family rivalries and corporate scheming to scandalous affairs and secret love children, The Forsytes is... well, it’s a whole lot. The show wrestles with themes of duty, love, and familial loyalty, all wrapped up in a sumptuous late Victorian-era setting.
The trailer offers some exciting glimpses of what’s ahead for all the Forstyes in the new season. The simmering connection between Irene and June’s fiancé, Phillip, is center stage, as is the public humiliation of Frances’ marriage. (She has seemingly decided to respond to her husband leaving her to live a life of adultery and poverty by buying a banging new wardrobe, and you know what, she deserves.)
Elsewhere, it sure does look like newcomer Sarah Alexander (The Marlow Murder Club) is playing that grown-up version of the girl that Jolyn Sr. and his brother, James, fought over so long ago, doesn’t it?
Here’s the (almost shockingly) brief Season 2 description:
In this next chapter the proud dynasty faces a new era of scandal, ambition, and shifting loyalties. As love, legacy and reputation collide, the cracks in the family’s polished façade grow ever deeper.
The series’ expansive cast features Francesca Annis (Flesh & Blood), Stephen Moyer (Art Detectives), Jack Davenport (Ten Percent), Danny Griffin (The Gentlemen), Tuppence Middleton (Our House), Eleanor Tomlinson (The Couple Next Door), and Tom Durant Pritchard (Miss Scarlet).
Alongside Alexander, new faces arriving this season include Richard Rankin (Outlander) and Nia Ashi (Art Detectives).
Debbie Horsfield penned all episodes of the second season. Directors Meenu Gaur (Murder Is Easy) and Annetta Laufer (Get Millie Black) split helming duties, with Sarah Lewis (The Long Shadow) producing. Horsfield and Gaur executive produce with Sheena Buckton-Wonsing, Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen, and Susanne Simpson for Masterpiece.
The Forsytes Season 2 will premiere in 2027, and the show has already been renewed for a third outing.
Season 1 is currently streaming on the PBS app, PBS Passport, and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel.
