‘The Assassin’ Season 2 Will Ruin Everyone’s Honeymoon
'The Assassin' Season 2 lands a trailer ahead of its U.K. release.
Season 1 of The Assassin just finished streaming on Acorn TV, and Season 2 is ready to follow in its wake. The series originally premiered on Sundance Now and AMC+ in mid-2025, and was renewed for a second season before 2026 rolled in; now Season 2 has officially landed a U.K. premiere for November.
The series’ recent move, bag and baggage, to Acorn TV wasn’t much of a surprise; Sundance Now rebranded back to its indie-movie roots at the start of the year, so the series no longer fit. However, the weekly release rollout was somewhat unusual, mostly because the show had just done a weekly rollout on Sundance less than a year earlier, and this rerun seemed more about solidifying a new home within the AMC Global federation of niche streaming services ahead of the Season 2 debut.
It’s still not official that Acorn TV will stream Season 2; it could start on AMC+ and then move over, or it could be a dual release. However, with the trailer now out in the U.K. for the November premiere, the new season’s family atmosphere definitely feels more aimed at Acorn TV viewers than the vampire-and-zombie-loving hordes of AMC+.
Here’s the Season 2 synopsis:
The second series picks up after Edward and Julie return from a disastrous trip to Northern Europe, only to find themselves estranged again after a mysterious fallout no one will discuss.
Julie’s days as an assassin are far from over as she slips back into her old ways while navigating something just as perilous… the dating scene. When Edward’s honeymoon doesn’t go quite as planned, he must reunite with Julie to take on Spain’s corrupt underworld, but can they survive the job and mend the rift that tore them apart?

Keeley Hawes (Miss Austen) and Freddie Highmore (Leonardo) return as mother and son, Julie and Edward. Shalom Brune-Franklin (Great Expectations) also reprises her role as Edward’s fiancée, Kayla, and Devon Terrell (Cursed) as her brother, Ezra.
Season 2 adds several new faces to the roster, most notably Natalia Tena (Game of Thrones). She’ll be joined by Arnaud Binard (Agathe Koltès), Boris Van Severen (Baptiste), Jacqueline Boatswain (Bridgerton), Mehdi Regragui (The Night Manager), Amin Hamada (We Were the Lucky Ones), Lolo Herrero (The Day of the Jackal), Monic Hendrickx (Arcadia), Karl-El Santos (Stags), Casimiro Aguza (Boundless), and Tony Corvillo (The Prince).

Series creators the Williams Brothers, Jack and Harry (The Missing), once again lead the writers’ room. Directors Terry McDonough (Killing Eve)and Sarah O’Gorman (The Witcher) split helming duties across the show’s six episodes, with John Griffin serving as producer. The Williams Brothers, McDonough, Hawes, and Highmore executive produce alongside Sarah Hammond, Daisy Mount & Alex Mercer for Two Brothers.
The Assassin Season 2 is set to premiere on Amazon’s Prime Video in the U.K. on Friday, November 6, 2026. It has no official U.S. release date, but is expected to premiere sometime in 2027. Season 1 is streaming on Acorn TV.
