Acorn TV has officially premiered The Madame Blanc Mysteries Season 5 trailer and confirmed that, for the first time in the series’ history, the annual Christmas special will air as the season finale instead of the premiere.

We suspected this would happen when Acorn TV announced Madame Blanc’s early November premiere date a few weeks ago. Acorn TV has struggled to figure out how to properly use the Christmas special in the yearly lineup ever since co-producer Channel 5 started commissioning holiday episodes with Season 2. It tried airing it as a separate series pre-premiere, like Call the Midwife does; it tried using the Christmas special as the season premiere, the way Grantchester did the one time ITV commissioned a holiday episode.

In fact, Acorn TV has tried just about everything but cycling the show to an end-of-year debut so the holiday special serves as the finale, even though PBS has basically trained American audiences to prefer Christmas-special finales via Downton Abbey and All Creatures Great & Small. Let’s hope that, now that the energy has been spent shifting the show around the calendar from its initial February premiere dates, the move isn’t in vain.

Here’s the new season’s overall trailer:

Murder, stolen treasures, and buried secrets keep antiques expert Jean White busy, but as her wedding to Dom approaches, family tensions are on the rise. In a shocking Christmas Special to end the season, Jean and Dom’s long-awaited wedding takes center stage… but will the ceremony actually take place?

And here are the individual episode titles:

  • Episode 1: “Fountain” (Monday, November 9, 2026)
  • Episode 2: “Black Pearl”
  • Episode 3: “The Returning Monstre”
  • Episode 4: “The Show Must Go On”
  • Episode 5: “All’s Fair In Love & War”
  • Episode 6: “Ashes To Ashes”
  • Episode 7: “Till Death Do Us Part” (Christmas Special/Season 5 Finale)

Series creator Sally Lindsay (Nightsleeper) returns as the titular Jean White, aka “Madame Blanc,” with Steve Edge (Ted Lasso) as her fiancé, Dom Hayes, and Tony Robinson (Hotel Babylon) as Dom’s Uncle Patrick. Co-writer Sue Vincent (The Full Monty) also returns as mechanic Gloria Beaushaw, with Paul Chuckle (Fall to the Top) as her dad, Trevor Beaushaw. The ensemble is rounded out by Robin Askwith (Inside No. 9) and Sue Holderness (Only Fools and Horses) as hoteliers Jeremy and Judith Lloyd James, and Alex Gaumond (Derry Girls) as Chief of Police André Caron.

Stephen Bailey (Tip Toe) once again returns to guest star for a third season straight as the running antagonist, gangster John Marsden. He’ll be joined by Frazer Hines (And Then There Were None), Bonnie Langford (Doctor Who), Michael Fenton Stevens (Slow Horses), Lesley Joseph (The Good Ship Murder), Brian Capron (Midsomer Murders), Louisa Lytton (Murdoch Mysteries), Jason Manford (Starstruck), Zoe Lyons (Mixtape), Justin Moorhouse (The Dumping Ground), and Su Pollard (Hacker Time).

As always, Lindsay and Vincent co-wrote all seven episodes, with director Dermot Boyd helming all installments, produced by Jake Rollins. Lindsay and Caroline Roberts-Cherry serve as executive producers for Saffron Cherry, alongside Morgan and Mike Benson for Clapperboard.

The Madame Blanc Mysteries Season 5 premieres on Acorn TV on Monday, November 9, 2026, and streams one episode a week through the holidays. Seasons 1 through 4 are also available to stream; Season 6 has not been greenlit.
