‘Vigil’ Season 3’s Teaser Arrives on the Frozen Tundra
'Vigil' Season 3’s first teaser is out, and we’re once again begging people to go seek the series out where it’s hidden on Peacock.
Line of Duty won’t be returning for Season 7 until 2027, but in the meantime, we have a new season of Vigil to tide us over. The series, which is best thought of as “What if Line of Duty, but it’s the Military,” stars Suranne Jones (MaryLand) and Rose Leslie (Downton Abbey) as investigators DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre, who are sent to various locations where British forces are located to solve murders and unearth cover ups by the bad apples who manage to rise through the ranks.
Season 1 was a Royal Navy-focused case and mostly took place aboard a nuclear-powered submarine; Season 2 took to the skies with the Royal Air Force, traveling between Scotland and the fictional Middle Eastern country of Wudyan. Season 3 will raise the stakes with a murder occurring during a British special forces covert mission at an Arctic research station.
(Just to make sure we are all clear on this point: “Arctic = Bears,” “Antarctic = No Bears.” Bears are therefore currently a possible plot point.)
The series is one of the BBC’s bigger hits of the past few years, but (much like The Capture and PONIES), it’s trapped on NBC Universal’s currently collapsing streaming service, Peacock, where no one knows to look for it. Even so, we highly encourage everyone to head over there and watch the first two seasons, especially if you’re already signing up to watch The Capture Season 3*.
(*You ARE signing up to watch The Capture Season 3, yes?)
Here’s the Season 3 synopsis:
DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre return for a new case that takes them to a remote Arctic research station, where a member of a covert British special forces mission has been shot dead.
Amy and Kirsten will need to catch the killer and defuse a potential international confrontation, driven by a land-grab for energy and resources in the changing polar climate, with both their careers and relationship on the line.
