Thriller 'After the Flood' Renewed for Season 2

Crime thriller After the Flood has been officially renewed for a second season by ITV and BritBox. While the series received mixed reviews from critics, strong ratings and an ending that essentially demanded a continuation means the drama will be back for more sleuthing in a Yorkshire town that seems plagued by environmental disaster.

After the Flood stars Sophie Rundle (Peaky Blinders) as scrappy PC Jo Marshall, who finds a dead body in a local parking garage after a devastating flood. The series' first season ended on an emotional cliffhanger that saw Daniel Eden's killer turn out to be a familiar face and left viewers wondering whether Jo will reveal all about the corruption she's discovered during her investigation. Would she reveal her own wrongdoings in the name of the greater good or become complicit by keeping silent?

Considering that Season 2 will apparently open with Jo's promotion to detective, it seems as though we can probably guess which way that went. (At least to some degree.) The six-episode second outing will see Jo investigate another body found in mysterious circumstances after --- you guessed it! --- more flooding takes place. Per the official description, this case will force her to confront the corruption that has flourished both on the force and in her own family, so perhaps there's still hope yet that she might do the right thing.
