‘Tommy & Tuppence’ Brings Our Couple Together Too Soon
Marriage, divorce, and other relationship disasters.
Technically, this episode of Agatha Christie’s Tommy and Tuppence wraps up the mystery of Archie St. Vincent’s murder. It does exactly that, in a rather deft and surprising fashion. It’s just that the solution to the case is maybe the third or fourth most important (or most interesting) thing going on in this hour at any given moment. (Sorry not sorry, Archie.)
The episode’s biggest twist is that Tommy & Tuppence definitely isn’t dragging out its central slow-burn romance. The attraction between the show’s two leads has been evident from the series’ first episode, but even so, having them kiss in Episode 4 is some shockingly breakneck pacing.
(Guys! Give us a chance to see some proper yearning first!)
Of course, it’s understandable. Tommy’s been on the verge of asking her out again for some time, and Tuppence was just pushed down some stairs and knocked unconscious while chasing a suspect. It’s all the sort of trope-y drama that’s ripe for a love confession. We don’t get that, but we do get a fairly intense make-out session.
Too bad it’s interrupted by the surprise appearance of Tuppence’s husband.
