‘Black Doves’ Season 2 Delivers First Look for November Debut
The best friends who slay (or spy) together stay together.
Netflix has finally confirmed that the second season of its surprise-hit spy thriller Black Doves will return to our screens this November. It seems to have been worth the wait; if the trailer is any indication, Season 2 will drop television’s most adorable murderous besties into an even bigger — and more dangerous — conspiracy.
The series stars Keira Knightley (The Woman in Cabin 10) as Helen Shaw, a suburban politician’s wife and mother who’s actually an undercover spy for a covert organization known as (guess what?) the Black Doves. Ben Whishaw (Paddington in Peru) plays her BFF Sam, a talented assassin who helped her out of a jam in the series’ first season, and Sarah Lancashire (Happy Valley) is Reed, the spy mistress who recruited Helen years ago.
Helen and Sam (thankfully) both survived the series’ first season, though not without some personal heartbreak and professional setbacks. They’re alive, but plenty of unfinished business still hangs over both of them. With Helen’s husband about to become Prime Minister (that’s how this show rolls!), she’ll have to be more careful (read: paranoid) than ever to keep her secret.
Season 2 adds several favorites to the cast, including Ambika Mod (One Day) as chaotic Black Doves agent Laila, Babou Ceesay (We Hunt Together) as Mr. Conteh, a Black Doves executive with suspicious motives, and Sam Riley (Firebrand) as Patrick, an emissary from a mysterious organization who offers Sam a lifeline.

Helen is still betraying her nation’s secrets to the covert organization she serves: the Black Doves. But after the misadventures of last Christmas, and with her husband Wallace preparing to become Prime Minister, she is walking a more treacherous line than ever.
As Helen’s enigmatic handler, Mrs Reed is ensnared in a ruthless plot to undermine her position in the Black Doves, Helen is reunited with her best friend, Sam. The once high-end triggerman is now reduced to lonely drinks in Soho bars and low-rate hits. As they search for answers, loyalties are weaponized, trust is shattered, and the fight to protect the people they love could cost everything. With all the explosive wit of Series 1, Helen and Sam’s mission leads them back to old friends and enemies, through the dark decisions and painful sacrifices of their pasts, and right to the heart of the Black Doves.

Alongside Knightley, Whishaw, and Lancashire, the series’ returning cast also includes Andrew Buchan (Code of Silence), Kathryn Hunter (Ann Droid), Ella Lily Hyland (Towards Zero), Gabrielle Creevy (Amadeus), and Agnes O’Casey (Star City).
Other Season 2 additions include Samuel Barnett (Endeavour), Neve Campbell (Scream), Sylvia Hoeks (Ride or Die), and Goran Kostic (Ant-Man and The Wasp).
“I couldn’t be more excited to delve back into the world of our murderous little spy family,” series creator Joe Barton (The Lazarus Project) told Netflix's Tudum. “To have so many [members] of our amazing cast returning and also being able to add some of my absolute favorite actors into the mix is such a great joy. Downing Street will never be the same.”
The six-episode second season is written by Barton, with Julian Farino (Giri/Haji) and Kieron Hawkes (Red Eye) splitting directing duties. Barton and Knightley also serve as executive producers, alongside Jane Featherstone and Chris Fry for SISTER Pictures. Callum Devrell-Cameron is the series producer.
Black Doves Season 2 will premiere on Thursday, November 5, 2026, on Netflix. Season 1 is currently streaming.
