‘Granite Harbour’ Docks for Season 3
'Granite Harbour' returns to BBC Scotland for Season 3, which means a BritBox premiere should be coming by year's end.
The BBC has confirmed that Granite Harbour will once again bring the cool winds of Scotland to U.K. screens during the height of the summer heat. Originally launched on BBC Scotland in early 2023, the series was one of the BBC’s early commissions aimed at creating shows filmed in Scotland for a Scottish audience, with BBC One only airing it in second run.
Thus far, the series hasn’t caught on in the U.S., though that’s partially due to BritBox not yet having moved to a weekly release schedule when Seasons 1 and 2 debuted on this side of the pond. Thankfully, the series only runs three episodes per season, so it will be easy for fans to catch up ahead of the new one.
An odd-couple detective series, Granite Harbour’s original premise was that of an ex-Royal Military policeman, DC Davis Lindo, and a down-home Scottish police sergeant, DS Lara ‘Bart’ Bartlett, solving cases of the week together that add up to one larger story. However, as Granite Harbour is billed as a drama rather than a mystery, both cases (Season 1’s murder of a billionaire; Season 2’s drug-smuggling McFadden family) were merely backdrops to the larger relationship at play.
Season 3 has evolved more into an ensemble series than just a pair of odd-couple crime solvers, but the mysteries are still the main plot driver; Lindo and Bart will have their hands full with the latest to land on their doorstep.
Here’s the Season 3 synopsis:
Teenage café worker Lisa Sterling disappears into the woods surrounding the prestigious estate owned by Richard Loughty following a birthday celebration for Rose Gough, matriarch of the local traveler community. By morning, Lisa’s body is discovered at the bottom of a ravine. What initially appears to be a tragic accident is quickly confirmed as murder.
DCI MacMillan and her team begin investigating, but they are under more pressure than ever. Following the fallout from their previous high-profile case, Chief Constable Alan Willis has ordered an investigation by the Special Police Investigations Service (SPIS). Just as the team appears to be closing in on answers, a shocking discovery forces them to question everything they thought they knew about Lisa’s murder, leaving Lindo and Bart facing a far darker mystery than they first imagined.

Romario Simpson (Riches) and Hannah Donaldson (Payback) return as Lindo and Bart for Season 3, alongside core cast members Dawn Steele (Shetland) as DCI Cora MacMillan, and Michelle Jeram (Liar) as DS Simone ‘Monty’ Montrose. The new main cast for Season 3 will include John Gordon Sinclair (Traces) as CC Alan Willis and Alastair Mackenzie (Unforgotten) as Richard Loughty.
Season 3 guest stars include Ian Pirie (Robin Hood), Ellie Haddington (Guilt), Amelia Isaac Jones (Legends), Craig Binning (Grantchester), Ryan Fletcher (Outlander: Blood of My Blood), Thoren Ferguson (Karen Pirie), Emma Hartley-Miller (Mint), Chloe-Ann Tylor (Shetland), Aaron MacGregor (Outlander), and Dawn Sievewright (Vigil).
Rob Fraser was lead writer for Season 3, with Ciara Conway and Jillian Mannion also returning to pen episodes. Director Martin Smith returns to helm Season 3, with Donna Molloy producing. Executive producers are Gavin Smith for BBC Scotland, Gaynor Holmes for BBC One, and Colin McKeown for LA Productions.
Granite Harbour Season 3 is set to debut on BBC Scotland on Friday, July 24, 2026, and follow on BritBox before the end of the year. Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming there now.
