Prime Video Sets December Release for 'The Devil's Hour' Season 3
The final season of Peter Capaldi and Jessica Raine's supernatural thriller will (hopefully) give us all the answers.
It's been almost two years since the second season of The Devil's Hour aired, but Prime Video has finally confirmed a release date for the show's third and final season. And it's closer than any of us likely expected.
One part serial killer drama, one part supernatural thriller, and one part multiverse mystery, with a heavy dash of philosophy and metaphysics on top, The Devil's Hour is the kind of series that defies easy explanation. It stars Jessica Raine (Becoming Elizabeth) as Lucy Chambers, a social worker who wakes up each night from nightmares of a life that isn't hers. Peter Capaldi (Criminal Record) plays the mysterious Gideon Shepherd, a criminal with the eerie ability to "remember" the future, thanks to the fact that he’s essentially been living out a time loop of his own life for many, many years. What follows is a twisty, time-bending story that spans multiple lives and different realities.
The Devil's Hour's second season ended on a massive cliffhanger: Gideon shot Lucy in the head (and presumably killed himself afterward) to trigger a temporal reset after their attempt to thwart a bombing that killed 17 children failed. But what do their seeming "deaths" mean for Lucy's son Isaac (Benjamin Chivers), who can slip between realities and isn't really even supposed to exist?
Theoretically, the five-part third season is set to give us an answer not just to that question, but to everything we still don't know about Lucy, Gideon, and the various lifetimes they may or may not have lived.

Here's the Season 3 synopsis.
Life is a scratched record, looping, over and over again. Most of us don’t remember living our lives before, but Lucy Chambers has woken up. Lucy remembers her life as a police detective, when she failed to prevent a series of terrorist acts. She remembers Gideon Shepherd, the serial killer who warned her the attacks were coming. She remembers her next life, when she gave birth to Isaac—an anomalous soul who became unbound to his own reality. Now she has been born again—neither a mother nor a police officer—but haunted by the memories of both. With only Gideon to turn to, Lucy teams up with her old foe to hunt down the monstrous child-killer who has evaded her across multiple lifetimes. Gideon teaches Lucy how to harness her memories. He shows her how to adapt, how to fight, and how to survive. But will any of it be enough when their enemy knows just as much as they do? In the end, it will take a miracle to stop him.

Alongside Raine and Capaldi, the series also stars Nikesh Patel (How to Get to Heaven From Belfast), Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso), Meera Syal (The Wheel of Time), and Saffron Hocking (Top Boy).
The series is created and written by Tom Moran, with Johnny Allan and Shaun James Grant directing. Moran is also an executive producer, alongside Sue Vertue and Steven Moffat of Hartswood Films (Sherlock). Lawrence Till is producer.
The Devil's Hour Season 3 will premiere on Prime Video on December 4.
