'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man' Brings Tommy into the War
Netflix releases the full-length trailer for 'Peaky Blinders' feature film return, along with the soundtrack's first single, "Puppet."
It’s hard to keep a good man down, but Tommy Shelby never claimed to be a good man. As played by Cillian Murphy (Steve), Shelby has had as many lives as a cat over the course of six seasons of Peaky Blinders, including faking his own death in (what was at the time) the series finale.
Like its main character, Peaky Blinders can be declared dead, but it’s the streets of Birmingham that decide how true that is. Perhaps unsurprisingly, reports of the show’s passing were, as ever, premature, as was Murphy’s exit. Not only has Netflix greenlit Seasons 7 and 8, to pick up with a new generation in the aftermath of World War II, but it commissioned a feature film, The Immortal Man, in which Shelby will return to whip said next generation into shape while the war’s still on.
With the release of the film’s trailer also comes a few revelations, including a full synopsis and our first looks at new characters entering the Peaky Blinders universe. We also get to meet at least one contender to lead that new generation, as the trailer reveals who Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) will play in the film, and why it’s his missteps that lead Shelby to come out of hiding and lay down the law.
Here is the film’s official synopsis:
Birmingham, 1940. Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet. With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons and choose whether to confront his legacy or burn it to the ground. By order of the Peaky Blinders…

Murphy returns to the franchise, as do longtime series co-stars Sophie Rundle (After the Flood) as Ada Shelby, Ned Dennehy (Good Omens) as Charlie Strong, Packy Lee (Blue Lights) as Johnny Dogs, Ian Peck (His Dark Materials) as Curly, and Stephen Graham (A Thousand Blows) as Hayden Stagg.
Keoghan heads up the new faces joining for The Immortal Man, alongside Rebecca Ferguson (Dune), Tim Roth (Last King of the Cross), and Jay Lycurgo (The Radleys).

The full soundtrack listing is not yet out, but Netflix has confirmed that Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have recorded a fresh take on the theme song, “Red Right Hand.” Cave’s original version served as the opening title theme in Season 1; the production has introduced fresh cover versions across the show’s run, recorded by various artists, including PJ Harvey, Arctic Monkeys, Anna Calvi, Iggy Pop & Jarvis Cocker, Patti Smith, Fidlar, Laura Marling, and Snoop Dogg.
The 36-track lineup will also feature artists such as Fontaines D.C., Lankum, McLusky, and Amyl and the Sniffers, as well as two rumored tracks from the iconic trip-hop band Massive Attack. The trailer showcases the song “Puppet,” performed by Grian Chatten, in collaboration with Peaky Blinders’ longtime composers Antony Genn and Martin Slattery, who score the film.
The film is written by series creator Steven Knight and directed by Peaky Blinders alum Tom Harper (Les Misérables). Both men are also executive producers alongside Caryn Mandabach, Guy Heeley, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason.
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man will screen “in select theaters” starting Friday, March 6, which will also serve as the release date for the soundtrack. The feature film will land on Netflix globally two weeks later, on Friday, March 20, 2026. Seasons 1 through 6 are currently streaming on Netflix, and Season 7 is currently in production.
