National Theatre at Home Announces Fall 2026 Schedule
Here are all the major titles coming to National Theatre at Home between now and the end of October 2026.
There are certain inflection points when a technology once considered exotic suddenly becomes universal, and those who are there at the right moment can ride a wave of success entirely not of their own making. For live theater, that moment has been crawling towards us since the pandemic – the advances in camera technology and the globalization of live experiences via video during the shutdowns, coming together just as a popular musical crests – eventually one would be big enough for the dam to break and start a revolution in how live theater is brought to audiences.
Hamilton: An American Musical was the first to breach the gate, but its popularity wasn’t quite enough to get the idea over, especially when Netflix’s attempt to mimic Disney+’s success failed. (I’m not saying taste level was a factor here, but Netflix chose Diana: The Musical. Of course it failed.) But the surprise success of Hadestown – now the highest-grossing professionally shot live performance (or “pro-shot”) – indicates that the entertainment world is at the tipping point of live theater watched in movie houses and at home finally becoming widely mainstream.
National Theatre at Home has been at the forefront of this movement ever since it launched in 2020, and the streaming service is striking hard in hopes of breaking through along with it, announcing five West End show premieres for September and October 2026.

All My Sons (Tuesday, September 1, 2026)
From November 2025, filmed in Wyndham’s Theatre, London, All My Sons starred Bryan Cranston (The Diplomat) and Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Hard Truths) in a new adaptation of Arthur Miller’s classic, directed by Ivo Van Hove. The play played in cinemas in the spring of 2026, and now reaches National Theatre at Home less than a year after its original debut. Tom Glynn-Carney (House of the Dragon) and Hayley Squires (The Night Manager) also feature.
All My Sons begins streaming on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
Teeth ’n’ Smiles (Tuesday, September 8, 2026)
The 50th anniversary revival of David Hare’s rebel play, Teeth ’N’ Smiles, featuring Rebecca Lucy Taylor (I Hate Suzie), originally opened in the Duke of York’s Theatre in March 2026. Billed as “a play with original music” – aka it doesn’t technically qualify as a musical – the show is about the fictional Maggie Frisby, once the roaring voice of 60s counterculture, now broke and disillusioned.
Teeth ’n’ Smiles begins streaming on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
The Fifth Step (Thursday, October 1, 2026)
The Fifth Step, a brand new comedy from playwright David Ireland, originally premiered in May 2025 at the Soho Theatre. Starring Jack Lowden (Slow Horses) and Martin Freeman (The Responder) as Alcoholics Anonymous newbie Luka and his sponsor, James, the story of addiction and the 12 Step method – with its focus on “the fifth step” – was such a hit that it debuted in cinemas in November 2025, and is now only coming to streaming a year later.
The Fifth Step will debut on streaming on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
War Horse (Thursday, October 22, 2026)
I checked and double-checked, and yes, this is the 2026 production of War Horse that played at the National Theatre in London, and literally just closed on July 31, 2026. Whether it’s because the show is a perennial favorite, the success of Hadestown, or a belief that people will always tune in to watch the horse puppet, the show is coming straight to streaming in October. Michael Morpurgo’s beloved story, directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, stars Tom Sturrage (The Sandman) in the lead role,
War Horse will debut on streaming on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
The Audience (Thursday, October 22, 2026)
The Audience was originally supposed to debut in June 2026, but hit a rights snag of some sort and never turned up. (This is unfortunately common with niche services, especially where they have to negotiate each show individually.) However, the new announcement suggests there was a good reason the debut was held: the release will be global, not just in select countries.
Helen Mirren (Mobland) stars as Queen Elizabeth II in the Olivier Award- and Tony Award®-winning hit production that inspired Netflix’s The Crown, directed by Stephen Daldry.
The Audience will debut worldwide on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
