Acorn TV Sets October Return for ‘Signora Volpe’ Season 3

Cozy crime dramas are popular for a variety of reasons. Many are drawn to their predictable formulas, focus on broad character arcs, or lack of overt violence and gore. Some love the idea of relatively normal people — professors, gardeners, restaurateurs — who stumble into the world of crime-solving. Others appreciate the chance to see popular actors reinvent themselves in new roles.

Acorn TV’s Signora Volpe hits several of these key beats, featuring a well-known actress (Silent Witness’s Emilia Fox) and boasting the kind of scenery this particular subgenre is famous for. But while many series of this kind feature shots of the lush English countryside or quaint rural villages, this show is set in Italy, and viewers get travel-ad-perfect views of the stunning Lazio and Umbria regions. The result is peak escapism and crime-solving all in one very pretty package.

The series follows Sylvia Fox, an ex-MI-6 agent who initially heads to Italy for her niece’s wedding, but remains to rebuild bridges with her estranged younger sister and family. Of course, she can’t quite give up her investigative ways and finds herself embroiled in multiple cases alongside the local police. As the series’ third season begins, Sylvia is still dealing with the fallout of the kidnapping that closed Season 2. But, as we all know, you can’t keep a good sleuth down.

Here’s the season 3 synopsis.

The third season finds former British spy Sylvia Fox now mentally and physically recovered from her abduction at the end of season two. While lingering questions about her ordeal remain, she is settling back into the rhythm of her new life in Italy, and her relationship with Carabinieri captain Giovanni Riva continues to deepen. However, she is soon drawn back into danger through a series of complex investigations, including the murder of a local winery owner and the mysterious death of a young man found in the bed of a prominent power couple. As each mystery hits closer to home and forces Sylvia to confront uncomfortable truths, a devastating loss and the return of someone from her past haunt her.

Alongside Fox, the returning cast includes Tara Fitzgerald (Belgravia) as Sylvia’s sister, Isabel Vitale, Elena Di Cioccio (Quién Eres) as Brigadiere Roberta Barzini, Matteo Carlomagno (All the Money in the World) as Matteo Vitale, Marianne Leoni (The Price of Family) as Raffaella Tasso, and Imma Piro (Il Capo Dei Capi) as Antonella Vitale. 

Jamie Bamber (Beyond Paradise) and Buffy Davis (Anna Karenina) are also back for the new season in recurring roles.

Rachel Cuperman and Sally Griffiths (Midsomer Murders) created and wrote Season 3, with David Evans (Domina) directing. Cuperman, Griffiths, and Fox all executive produce, alongside Marc Samuelson, Josie Law, and Robert Cheek for Route 24; Catherine Mackin and Bea Tammer for Acorn Media Enterprises; Simon Cox for Banijay Rights; and Cristina Giubbetti for Cattleya, which is providing Italian Production Services. Matthew Bird (Boat Story) is the series producer.

Signora Volpe season 3 premieres on Monday, October 5, 2026, on Acorn TV. Seasons 1-2 are now streaming. Season 1 is also available on select PBS stations, and Season 2 will probably be added to PBS Passport in 2027.
