Marie Antoinette
Marie Antoinette is one of the most famous women in history, a queen who is most often remembered more for the idea of who she was and what she represented rather than for anything to do with the actual historical fact of her life. Our modern-day pop culture most
Call the Midwife
Call The Midwife's twelve seasons (and counting) is barely a drop in the bucket compared to most British soap operas and hospital dramas. Coronation Street has been going 63 years, Emmerdale for just over 50. It's not even close to the longest-running primetime medical drama
PBS
As is true of nearly all successful murder mysteries based on books (unless you're adapting Agatha Christie), eventually, the source material runs out. It's a mark of the popularity of Vienna Blood that it hit this point and the production's dedication to the Frank
All Creatures Great and Small
This week’s All Creatures Great & Small carries the punch and emotional weight of the season finale it was in the U.K. (Here in the U.S.A., the season finale is the Christmas Special, airing next week). It’s a moving and brilliant episode as our beloved
Miss Scarlet (and the Duke)
After a third season that was fairly uneven over the course of its run, Miss Scarlet & the Duke sticks the landing in its Season 3 finale, offering up an episode that's fun to watch, genuinely suspenseful, and full of the sort of great character moments that have

Valentine's Day may be a holiday semi-invented by a conspiracy of florists, chocolatiers, and Hallmark, but that doesn't make it any less of a symbol. It is the halfway point for the shortest (and, let's face it, dreariest) month of the year. Even
Sanditon
The story of Sanditon has as many plot twists as any good period drama, a road that features multiple dramatic reversals of fortune in the space of just a few years. Though the series initially premiered in the summer of 2019, the show was canceled by U.K. network ITV
Miss Scarlet (and the Duke)
What a strange ride Miss Scarlet & the Duke Season 3 has been. Thankfully, after a pair of lackluster installments in "Hotel St. Marc" and "Bloodline," —in which half of the series' titular duo was almost entirely absent — the show returns to excellent form with

Vienna Blood's cold open chyron "China 1900" presents the Boxer Rebellion; in a lesser series, it might herald a yellow peril episode. However, the second chyron reminds us how far the series still has to go. "Vienna 1908" was Season 1's setting;
All Creatures Great and Small
All Creatures Great & Small opens with the reveal Tristan and Florence Pandhi are no longer enemies, and as suspected, very attracted to each other. Tristan is coming into his own, revealing strength of character as well as easy charm, but Siegried has trouble dealing with change. He’s been
Miss Scarlet (and the Duke)
Miss Scarlet & the Duke Season 3 has been a roller coaster of episode quality. "Arabella's" was one of the series' best recent installments, while "Hotel St. Marc" was one of its worst. And now there's "Bloodline," an installment

As the shortest month on the calendar, February doesn't have much going for it other than being over faster. Besides Valentine's Day and the occasional Marvel movie, entertainment hits the doldrums during the calendar's metaphorical month of Tuesdays. Movie studios either put out cloying
