‘The Forsytes’ Season 3 Will Only Run 3 Episodes
'The Forsytes' Season 3 details are here, and they aren't promising.
It raised a few eyebrows around here when PBS Masterpiece bravely announced that the new version of The Forsytes was being renewed for a third season before the series premiered in the States. However, the show had already aired in the U.K. on Channel 5, so we here at Telly Visions took it as a good sign for the show’s ratings (and reception) that the co-production was already moving forward so eagerly.
Then we saw Season 1. A “reimagining” of John Galsworthy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning series of novels, the series was... “creative,” shall we say, in how it refashioned the beloved, well-known characters for the books. While it certainly was A Take on The Forsyte Saga, it required major adjustments from those who know the books and loved the 1967 and 2002 versions to accept these very different character variants.
Perhaps these adjustments were asking for too much. Season 2, which was completed before Season 1 aired on either side of the pond, will still run six installments, continuing to build its alternate-universe Forsyte saga. But Season 3 (which notably did not include an episode count in the original announcement) has now been revealed to run only three episodes, in which The Forsyte clan... takes a holiday.

Here’s the third season synopsis:
The third season will see the Forsyte family on holiday. When the wealthy Forsytes try to get some respite in the glamorous French Riviera, they quickly realize that they can’t escape their family drama. The casino, the beach, and a luxurious hotel are all settings for this third chapter in writer Debbie Horsfield’s reimagining of John Galsworthy’s The Forsyte Saga novels.
The sprawling cast stars Francesca Annis (Flesh & Blood), Stephen Moyer (Art Detectives), Jack Davenport (Ten Percent), Danny Griffin (The Gentlemen), Tuppence Middleton (Our House), Eleanor Tomlinson (The Couple Next Door), and Tom Durant Pritchard (Miss Scarlet). Supporting actors include Josette Simon (Broadchurch), Tristan Sturrock (Poldark), Justine Moore (Call the Midwife), Jamie Flatters (Liar), Naomi Frederick (Belgravia), Sharon Rose (Silent Witness), Owen Igiehon (Disclaimer), Fiona Button (Truelove), Eleanor Jackson (The Royal Mob), and OG 1967 The Forsyte Saga star Susan Hampshire OBE, who plays Lady Carteret in this version.

Season 3 will add Gregg Sulkin (World on Fire) and Gabriel Antunes (FBI International) to the roster in as-yet-undisclosed roles.
The series is written by Debbie Horsfield, who also wrote the 2015 Poldark adaptation. Directors Meenu Gaur (Murder Is Easy) and Annetta Laufer (Get Millie Black) were previously announced as splitting helming duties, with Sarah Lewis (The Long Shadow) producing. Horsfield and Gaur executive produce with Sheena Bucktowonsing, Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen, and Susanne Simpson for Masterpiece.
The Forsytes Season 3 is currently filming on location in Croatia; Season 2 is expected to debut in 2027. Season 1 is streaming on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel.
